Translation services – How the process works

If you have never purchased a translation service before the process might seem a bit unfamiliar. Let us guide you through the steps.

The price of each translation project is based on the number of words in the text, the type of the text (legal, technical, creative), level of difficulty, language pair and to a certain extent the format in which we handle the text.  That is why we ask you to send us the text so that we can draft a quotation.

How the process works:

1. The customer sends the material for translation via email with the order which specifies the applicable language pair, time frames and any special instructions about terminology, style, use and target audience.

2. The material is analyzed and a quotation is sent to the customer, along with a preliminary delivery time. The customer confirms the price and delivery time.

3. The project manager compiles the relevant reference material, instructions and appropriate translation memory, collaborates with the translator to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the context, subsequently initiating the translation process.

4. Work on the translation begins, with regular communication between the translator and project manager to address any challenges and ensure suitable terminology choices.

5. If included in the agreed service, another translator with relevant expertise will review the material to ensure precision and appropriateness. (Revision = checking a translation in terms of its appropriateness for the agreed purpose, comparing source and target texts and recommending corrective measures.)

6. The project manager conducts a final check, and the translated material is delivered to the customer.

7. Any feedback from the customer is entered in the text, translation memories are updated to aid in maintaining consistency and quality in future translations and a final version of the translation is delivered to the customer.
